Stage 1. User Research

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand user needs. Research identified middle-aged working people and retired citizens as the primary users of the Need Doc App—those who lack time to visit hospitals. It confirmed initial assumptions but also revealed deeper needs, such as quick access to doctors in emergencies and urgent medication support.

Stage 2. Ideation & Conceptualization

Brainstormed innovative features based on key user needs identified through research. Mapped out several user journey scenarios to visualize how users would interact with features like quick doctor booking, real-time messaging, and profile customization. This approach helped shape a seamless and intuitive healthcare experience, ensuring users could connect with doctors easily and access essential services anytime.

Stage 3. Design Execution

  • Wireframing: Taking the time to draft iterations of each screen on paper ensured that the elements carried into the digital wireframes effectively addressed user pain points. For the home screen, I prioritized quick and easy doctor appointment booking to save users time. As the design process progressed, I refined the screens based on feedback and insights gathered from user research.

  • Prototyping: Using the completed digital wireframes, I built a low-fidelity prototype focused on booking doctor appointments and consultation options. The final high-fidelity prototype improved user flows and added features like multiple consultation modes, easier communication, and better navigation.

  • User Interface Design: I designed a clean, user-friendly interface to help users easily navigate the app and access healthcare services. A calming color palette and clear typography ensured readability, while user feedback guided improvements in appointment booking and overall usability.

Stage 4. User Testing & Iterations

Facilitated user testing with a diverse group of Need Doc App users, gathering valuable feedback on the redesign. This phase was essential in uncovering unforeseen usability issues and validating the effectiveness of new design elements. Iterative refinements were made based on the feedback, fine-tuning the interface to enhance user satisfaction and overall engagement.

Stage 5. Final Presentation and Documentation

Prepared a detailed presentation and thorough documentation outlining the research insights, design decisions, user testing results, and the iterative process behind the Need Doc App. Highlighted the app’s potential to improve access to healthcare by offering a more seamless, reliable, and user-centered experience for booking doctor appointments and staying connected with medical professionals.
