Stage 1. User Research

I conducted user interviews and created empathy maps to understand user needs. Research confirmed that Grand Cinema’s primary audience is busy working adults who struggle to find time to book tickets. However, it also uncovered additional barriers like personal obligations, limited nearby theaters, and lack of preferred payment options, especially for users without cash. These insights helped shape a more user-centric ticket booking experience.

Stage 2. Ideation & Conceptualization

Led creative workshops with stakeholders and fellow designers to brainstorm innovative features that directly addressed user needs identified during research. Mapped out multiple user journey scenarios to visualize how users would interact with features like fast booking, detailed movie previews, and cast info. This collaborative process fostered a shared vision and helped enhance user engagement by focusing on a smooth, intuitive ticket booking experience.

Stage 3. Design Execution

Wireframing: Developed over 26 wireframes for various screens of the movie ticket booking app, carefully planning each UI element to ensure intuitive navigation and a smooth booking experience. These wireframes formed the foundation of the app’s structure, focusing on quick ticket access, streamlined seat selection, and user-friendly payment options.
Prototyping: I created a low-fidelity prototype based on digital wireframes, focusing on the main user flow of booking movies and choosing payment options for usability testing. The final high-fidelity prototype featured smoother user flows and addressed user needs with more payment methods and improved features.
User Interface Design: Crafted a visually appealing and accessible user interface for the movie ticket booking app, choosing a color palette that enhances clarity and ease of use, along with typography that ensures readability across devices. Integrated feedback from stakeholders to refine the UI, ensuring it not only looks engaging but also supports a smooth and efficient ticket booking experience.

I conducted two rounds of user testing to refine the Grand Cinema app. The first guided the shift from wireframes to mockups, while the second, using a high-fidelity prototype, revealed areas for improvement. Based on feedback, I added more payment options, redeemable vouchers, and a snack selection feature—enhancing both functionality and user satisfaction.

Stage 5. Final Presentation and Documentation

Prepared an in-depth presentation and comprehensive documentation detailing the research findings, design rationale, user testing outcomes, and the iterative design process. Highlighted Grand Cinema’s potential to transform the movie booking experience by making it more seamless, engaging, and user-friendly.
